The last decade brought with itself an influx of Content covering each Spectrum, but one particular one which garnered a lot of attention is The Self Help World where creators made so much content with limited amount of Information.

Now by limited amount of information of this 13 Billion Dollar industry I mean the innate set points which guides it are more or less the same but the business model is so well structured and so well articulated that it lures you into it and always make you want for the next level(next book, next video, next seminars).

Although I respect The Advices and I myself am a Fan of Self Help and Improvements but they as a constant Consumption is harmful as they lead towards a attitude of 'Action Faking' as M.J Demarco describes where menial and meaningless task, takes a lot of your time and gives you an artificial gratification that you have completed a task and are a very busy person whereas the task didnt add any value to your life or business.

Taking about myself when I first entered this Self Help World, I used to wake up at 5 and exercise and meditate and made my perfect morning routine but this all used to give me such an “Action Faking Attitude” that I didn’t do anything the whole day because the amount of Gratification I can handle was provided to me in the morning only.

The Problem wasn’t the routine, it was not even the Self Help Industry but it was me…

See Jane Austen said that

“We all love to instruct, though we can teach only what is not worth knowing”

This is what Literature was you see Jane Austen was a romantic writer but literature in essence captures things unnoticeable and is made uniquely for everyone as it requires you to decipher and interpret the text.

You see Advices suck you need to make your Thoughts about things.

You need to be Self Brilliant, Self Motivated and a Self Learner.

Another Problem which this industry created is in books area where people are reading less and less literature, philosophy or any other genre. People are reading more self help because it gives you that instant dopamine and the books are easily understandable and do not require an inch of your brain to decipher the text . This leads to claims by people on reading 50 books a year but what they don’t understand is they’ve just learned nothing.

Now for life, there is no fixed path. If you are an ambitious type person you should notice how the top tier people don’t have anthying in common. Some are hardworking some are lazy. You'll always see a new ‘new’ , there was one Steve jobs so quit being that guy and embrace who you are.

And for the good advices in Self Help I mean come on didn’t we already know that Excersing, meditating and eating good was good. That Writing your goals, jounalling and manifestation works. So my target was not the advices in Self Help but the constant consumption of it. So read it, the value is their but what it does, is stop your progress because if you get addicted you need to watch a motivational video to do something, So become Self Motivated .
